Readers made the first gathering possible
The inaugural Living Tamil LitFest brought writers, translators, editors and readers together in New York. The people who read this literature also built the room for it: organising the programme, meeting its costs and welcoming a new generation into the conversation.
For two days, a literature shaped for decades beyond institutional attention spoke in its own voice, with English translation opening the work to readers outside Tamil. London 2027 continues that reader-made journey.
